Overview

Prince Edward Island (PEI) is one of Canada's thirteen provinces and one of the three Maritime Provinces as well as one of the four Atlantic Provinces. Prince Edward Island is the smallest province of Canada in both land area and population, but the most densely populated. The island has several informal names: "Garden of the Gulf", "Birthplace of Confederation" or “Cradle of Confederation". Charlottetown is the province's capital and largest city. It is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, west of Cape Breton Island, north of the Nova Scotia peninsula, and east of New Brunswick, with the Northumberland Strait forming its southern border. The island's climate has an oceanic climate that is moderate and heavily affected by the surrounding oceans. Agriculture, tourism, and fishing are the most important seasonal sectors in the province. Most rural cities' economies are focused on small-scale agriculture, with no heavy industry or manufacturing, while Cavendish Farms has substantial food processing facilities on PEI.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) was launched in 2001, with the goal of attracting and retaining more immigrants to the province who can assist in meeting economic and labour market demands and reaching economic success. Since 2015, the province has accepted about 2,000 new immigrants each year, and the figure is anticipated to grow in the future. Prince Edward Island’s Provincial Nominee Program (PEINP) allows overseas immigrant, with their relevant skills and work experience, to apply for Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Certificate and thereafter, they get eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency Visa through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
